Signs Your Vape Coil Needs to be Replaced

A vape coil is one of the most important components of your vape device, and if it doesn’t function properly, you can rest assured that you won't have the most pleasant vaping experience. You will experience dry hits or burnt puffs, which is definitely something none of us ever wants to taste while vaping.

That is why each vaper has to have the least basic knowledge about coils and know when it is the right time to replace them and continue vaping adventure with the best working device. What Are Vape Coils?

First thing first. Before we go any further, let's talk for a bit about vape coils and why they are one of the key and hardest-working parts of your vaping gadgets. They are made out of two parts, named the atomizer and wick. The first one is a heating element made out of metal, usually kanthal, or stainless steel. The wick is usually made out of some type of absorbing material, and in the majority of cases, that is cotton. Its role is to heat your e-liquids and turn them into vapor. So, no coil, no vape!

The most used types of coils are regular ones, even, though some manufacturers are turning more and more to mesh coils. Both kinds come with some advantages and disadvantages, so make sure to do your research before opting for one or the other. Also, bear in mind that not all coils fit in all tanks, so when buying replacement coils don’t forget to check out your vape’s specifications.

The way coils work is pretty simple. Once you press the button located on your device, the battery will provide power to the coil, which will be used to convert that power into heat. E-juice will be pulled through the tank and soaked into the wicked material, the coil of wire will heat the juice, and turn it into a vape that we can finally inhale.

They can also be divided into high and low-resistance coils. The first ones have a resistance above 1.0 ohm, they lose less power, produce smaller clouds, and use less e-juice. Of course, the low-resistance ones do everything the opposite. If you are not sure what will work best for you, feel free to experiment. Try a few kinds until you discover what type of coils are just your cup of tea.

So, When Is The Time for Changing?

Depending on your vape device, you may require changing your coils more or less frequently. Due to constant re-heating, your coils will burn out, and once that happens, they are not serving their purpose anymore. Even though you may never know when is just the right time for replacement, because that varies from how much you vape, what juice you are using, etc there are some general signs you should keep your eye on and avoid having to deal with bad and highly unpleasant hits.

First of all, as soon as start tasting a burnt taste, you should know that something is terribly off. The burnt hits are very displeasing, and when you inhale just one of those, you would like never to go down that road again. The back of your throat will be agonized, and sometimes you can even start to feel sick. So, when this happens, don’t wait much longer, and make sure to change your coils straight away!

Vape coils are the heart of your devices, and you need to take good care of them. Another clear sign that those you are using are completely worn out is dry taste, so beware of those as well. When the hit is dry, you won't be getting the same thickness of vapor you may usually get.

You should also consider swapping your coils out when you don’t get any vapor from your device. As your coils start to decompose, the vape won't be able to produce the level of vapor needed for high-quality inhalation. So, when you notice you cannot create the big clouds anymore, you know the drill! Change your coils on short notice!

But it is not only possible to experience getting no vapor, you may also get no flavor from your device. Your e-liquid will start to taste odd, and the taste of your puffs won't be satisfactory anymore. And believe us, your taste buds will register this change very fast! Nobody wants to inhale some non-delicious puffs, and that is why it is always recommended to treat your gadget with a brand-new coil.

Another possible scenario is for your coil to flood all of a sudden, which can happen from time to time. When your atomizer is not able to vaporize e-liquid the way that it is supposed to, it will get flooded with e-juice, and it won't get vaporized. This can cause leaking, which will lead to creating a huge mess, so in order to avoid this, simply pop in a fresh coil.

The strange noise is also not a good sign in the world of vaping. Therefore, if you hear something that reminds you of gurgling noise when you are inhaling, don’t neglect it! It is a way for your device to tell you to buy the new coils and insert them as quickly as possible.
